Students at Preston School were celebrating a visit from Yeovil Town FC manager Darren Way last week as he led a whole school assembly.
Darren talked about the need for all students and staff to work hard in every aspect of life as well as treating people with respect. The 980 students were enthralled with the assembly and soaked up everything that they heard.
Preston School Principal, Gregg Morrison, said: “As a way of upholding our strap line of ‘Bringing Learning to Life & Life to Learning’, we are using our whole school assemblies to invite in inspiring and motivational figures such as Darren. Our ethos of working hard and being nice to each other match perfectly Darren’s message to the students. So many students and staff have commented on how much of an impact the assembly had which is great and just why we wanted”.
Year 11 student and Yeovil Town Under 16 footballer Ben Hughes spoke to Darren Way after the assembly and commented “the assembly was amazing and inspiring and I learnt so much, it has really helped me”.
