School Closing at 12.30pm 31/01/2019

After liaising with our site staff, the Chair of Governors and the Local Authority I have taken the decision to close Preston School at 12.30pm on Thursday 31st January 2019. Student, staff & family welfare is always foremost in our mind and it is for this reason that we are closing before the weather associated with the yellow weather warning comes in to Yeovil in the afternoon.
With the impact that the unexpected snow had yesterday on travel in the town, I am keen that those students, families and staff who travel long distances and/or on ungritted country lanes are able to travel safely with enough time to get home.
For those students who travel home on the school bus, we have liaised with Westfield Academy (with whom we share the bus) and the Local Authority have informed us that they anticipate being able to run the service as normal but at the earlier time. Obviously this service is out of our control but if we receive any information contrary to this we will inform you immediately so that you can make plans for your child’s safe transportation home.
We will update you with regards to whether we open tomorrow as soon as we are able to.
Thank you for your understanding on this difficult decision, which was not taken lightly.
