Huge increases in GCSE results makes Preston School one of the most improved schools in the country!
Students, staff, families and the governors of Preston School are celebrating an amazing set of record-breaking GCSE results! The school has seen huge increases in the numbers of students making great academic progress and headlines measures have improved massively since the last set of grades determined by exams in 2019. In fact, they are the best GCSE outcomes the school has produced since GCSE exams were reformed!
Whilst this demonstrates the excellent progress the school has made, the most pleasing element is that this means individual students have achieved great outcomes, which will open many doors for them in the future. The Preston School Class of 2022 are an amazing collection of young people. It is difficult enough being a 15/16 year old young person in the world that we live in today, without having to cope with a global pandemic that takes away so many things from them that they were looking forward to, and entitled to, over the last few years.
At Preston we say that our job as a school is to both help our young people mature and develop so that they have the personal, social and professional skills to go on and do anything in the world that they want to do, alongside growing their learning skills to succeed academically. Unsurprisingly our Class of 2022 have done both superbly and we are incredibly proud of the young people that they are and the exam grades that they have gained.
There are some amazing performances from students in terms of the academic progress that they have made since they joined us. The following students have made the most academic progress out of the whole year group:
Chloe L, Lauren C, Callum H, Dimitar G, Max S, Olivia Y, Ben H, Will S, Glorienne P, Luke C, Yagmur A, Joe N, Eva M, Reece A, Evie H, Sam R, Hannah N, Chloe S, Wanesa C and Jake H.
Students with the highest attainment include:
Madie L, Hannah N, Matt H, Claudia K, Lewis D, Sam R, Lauren C, Callum H, Andrei P, Izzy S, Evie H, Linus J, Emily T, Abi H, Tom A, Dimitar G, Shinae S, Morgan C, Josh G and Poppy P.
We are very proud of all of the students and the learners and young people that they have become, and will go on to be.
The students are naturally delighted with their results and what they enable them to go on and do in the future. Preston School’s Principal, Gregg Morrison, said “we are delighted with this year’s GCSE exam results and so very proud of the children who have coped so well in incredibly testing conditions. We are pleased that so many of our students will once again now go on to study the course of their choice in the next stage of their life.
Being a student at Preston is about more than just exam results: it is about the experiences, knowledge and skills that you gain in order to go out and be a fantastic and ambitious person in the world. I know that our students leave with those things in abundance, as well as good academic qualifications. We wish all of our leavers all the very best of luck for the future and we look forward to hearing about your future successes – please do stay in touch and ‘Work Hard & Be Kind’ in everything that you do.
Our results & student experiences are under-pinned by a huge amount of hard work by students, staff and families. I am delighted with the progress that we are making as a school and that this has been demonstrated by the first set of exam results since 2019. When the figures become publishable we will share them and shout from the roof tops as I am so proud of the progress that we have made. Having joined the Midsomer Norton Schools Partnership (MNSP) last year, we have a great foundation to go on to achieve even more as a school”.
