Message to all families
Friday, April 8, 2022
Dear families,
Thank you for your support across this term. As we are approaching the summer term I wanted to write to you on students’ uniform and PE kit and signpost some changes for September so that you have plenty of notice of them.
We are hoping that when we return to school after the Easter holidays, that the weather improves and the temperature rises. As we have done in previous years if temperatures do become excessive we will adjust the uniform expectations around ties and blazers being worn accordingly, and we will share this with you at the time. Aside from those occasions the uniform remains the same in the summer term as it does the rest of the year.
You may remember that this time last year, as part of our drive to continually make life easier for you as parents and family members, we have sourced a new, cheaper school skirt for students to wear. Students in Year 7 have worn the new pleated skirt this year. It looks very smart and is, I am told, comfy and durable, so we will now be making this compulsory for all students wearing a skirt from September 2022. This will mean that students that wear a skirt in Years 8-10 that currently do not have a pleated skirt will need to get one for September. I wanted to give you as much notice as possible as I know some of you are likely to buy skirts during the summer term. As well as these skirts being stocked in The Schoolwear & More shop, they are also available at Asda here: https://direct.asda.com/george/school/girls-school-skirts/senior-girls-navy-waist-panel-pleated-school-skirt/GEM836170,default,pd.html?cgid=D10M2G1C10 where they are especially good value. Only these two versions of the skirt will be acceptable in September.
Also in the last few years, we have introduced new PE leggings and jogging bottoms. As students now have the option of these or the shorts for PE, the old skorts will no longer be able to be worn from September. Although, students will be able to leave school in their PE kit at the end of the day if they have had PE period 5.
I hope that this information helps you with your planning, makes the summer shopping cheaper and helps avoid any unnecessary purchases.
Have a lovely Easter when it arrives.
Best wishes
Gregg Morrison
