Message to all families

Dear families,

Thank you for your support of your child(ren) and the school over this term. As always, it is much appreciated.

I struggle to believe that this time two years ago we were all in lockdown and were adjusting to remote learning for the first time. Sadly, two years on we are still battling the lingering effects of COVID as, like many business and schools, we have many staff off ill. Thankfully, as a result of the amazing efforts and team work of the teaching staff and Mrs Reeve who co-ordinates our cover, we have not yet had to ask a year group to work at home for a day or extended period of time. I know that unfortunately many schools across Somerset have had to do this over a long period and thankfully we have managed to avoid doing so. It has been close on many occasions though, so I did want to email out just to confirm the arrangements if we did have to ask a year group (or two) to work from home on a day:

·         You will receive an email from me informing you of this. If we are asking a year group to work from home the next day, then we will try and make the decision as early in the day so that you have as much notice as possible

·         No one year group would be out of school for consecutive days

·         Year 11 students would not be asked to work from home, as they are so close to their exams

·         If we do ask Year 7/8 students to work from home we would try and give more than one day’s notice, where possible, in case you did not want them to be at home alone

·         All work will be set through Google Classroom and if we can do interactive lessons then we will, although this may not always be possible

·         All work should be ‘handed in’ on Google Classroom by the students, by the end of the day

Hopefully we won’t need to enact this but I thought worth sharing just in case. 

Also just a reminder that the students’ last day of term is Thursday 7th April 2022, as Friday 8th April is an INSET day for staff only. School will finish at 12.15pm on Thursday 7th April and any students on school transport or taxi will be picked up at this time. All students and staff return for Term 5 on Monday 25th April 2022.
