CHALLENGE 1: RACE AROUND THE GLOBE
The purpose
The importance of regular exercise cannot be ignored. Exercise provides a multitude of physical, mental, social and emotional benefits that make such a positive impact on ourselves.
At Preston, we believe that BOTH students and staff need to be dedicating some part of their day, towards looking after themselves and by finding some time to perform exercise.
We understand that due to lockdown, a lot of different forms of exercises cannot be performed at the moment. We want to provide some fun and stimulating challenges, that will encourage you to keep moving and exercising!
How will it work?
Students and staff will compete with each other to see who can travel the furthest distance. The main methods of movement include walking, running and cycling. Other methods can include scooters or skateboards for example.
People taking part in the challenge will upload screenshots or evidence of their movement on that day. Popular apps such as Strava are recommended, but any app that tracks your distance and that can also be used to send screenshots, are fine to use as well. Apps that show which days you did this on are also preferred to keep the challenge fair.
The challenge will start on MONDAY 18th JANUARY
The team to finish the journey first, wins the challenge! Leaderboards will also show the biggest contributors to either the staff or student team, along with an overall leaderboard of who travelled the furthest distance overall!
Any entries must be uploaded or sent in by 4:00 of each day, then an updated leaderboard will be shared daily with you.

What is the journey?
Although you don’t have to make the journey back to an airport/port, you have to travel to the famous sites first!

Journey Three: Alejandro Cusco International Airport – Machu Picchu (76km)
Journey Four: Luxor Airport – Valley of the Kings (17.9km)
Journey Five: Cairns Airport – The Great Barrier Reef (140km)
Journey Six: Indira Gandhi International Airport - Taj Mahal (13km)
Journey Seven: Dubai International Airport – Burj Khalifa (16km)
Journey Eight: King Hussein International Airport – Petra (122km)
You arrive back to Preston School!
