Preston Plans So Far.
Wednesday, March 18, 2020
We will update you as much as we can.
At the current time of writing our plan for Thursday 19th & Friday 20th March is that we will continue to only have Years 7, 10 & 11 in school. Years 8 & 9 should not come in to school. Staffing levels are still low but have not got substantially lower since yesterday. If this changes, or if the daily briefing from the Prime Minister indicates otherwise, I will be in touch again.
Work is set for students on Google Classroom and they have their Knowledge Builders to work from for the remainder of this term (they can work ahead if necessary).
For Year 11 students self-isolating or off ill whilst we are still open, students should complete their own revision using the many platforms provided by the school. These include but are not limited to: Google Classroom, GCSE Pod, Seneca etc. each subject has also posted on the student and family portals a link to the most useful revision websites.
Year 8 & 9 students who receive Free School Meals can continue to access their lunch from The Hub from 12.30-12.45pm on Thursday & Friday. Year 8 & 9 students whose parents/carers work for the emergency services and students in the Albert Einstein Autism Base can continue to come in to school, as they have today.
Our students have been a real credit to us this week. They always are but this week they have shown a particular maturity and resilience of which I am really proud. Those that have symptoms, or have symptoms within the house, have been sensible and stayed off and those that don’t have been in and taking part in lessons as usual. A huge thanks to the staff for carrying on so professionally and trying to keep it ‘business as usual’, which is important for all students but particularly Years 10 & 11 with exams approaching. The NHS advice on symptoms can be found here: https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/coronavirus-covid-19/
Unfortunately, the information that we receive from the Department for Education is only that which is out there and available for public consumption. The lack of information coming to schools with regards to school closures, GCSE exams & the welfare and attendance of students and staff has been appalling. As such I am not able to update you any more on the longer-term implications of the current situation. I wish I could as I understand that would provide reassurance. As soon as we receive information I will share it with you to allow us all to plan to the best of our abilities.
Thank you once again for your ongoing support of your family and the school. Please look after yourselves and let us know if we can do anything to support you.
Yours sincerely
Gregg Morrison
Principal
