Message from Mr Morrison
The GCSE exams are the most important part of a young person’s school life up to this point. Our role as a school is to ensure that all students are as well-prepared for their exams as possible. It is a potentially stressful time for the students and we will do everything we can as a school to ensure we support, care for, nurture and challenge them in order that they are able to reach their academic potential when they receive their grades in the summer. Parents, carers and families clearly have an important role to play as well in supporting their children and helping to provide them with an environment in which they can work, learn and revise at home. We really value strong parental engagement so please do keep us informed of anything that we need to know or can do to further support each and every student.
We want learning to be enjoyable, but we also believe that there is no substitute for commitment, attention to detail and hard work from students. Please encourage them to work hard this year. We regularly tell the students they make a huge difference to their grades by the work they undertake outside of school and as such we should all notice a difference in the amount of work they are completing in Year 11 as opposed to earlier school years.
We all want the same thing for the young people: for them to be healthy, happy students who are able to live-out their aspirations in the future as a result of the good academic grades they achieve whilst at school. The staff and I look forward to supporting each student in our pursuit of this during their time in Years 9, 10 & 11. All the very best of luck for this year.
Mr G. Morrison
