Year 7 Camp
We are pleased to inform you that a two day camp has been organised for Year 7 students between the dates of Thursday 10th – Friday 11th October 2019 at Hestercombe House, near Taunton. The camp is intended to develop a community spirit within the new year group and to give all students the experience of living, working and having fun together. We had not finalised plans with Hestercombe House when we held the New Intake Parents Evening in March, but are pleased that we can now write to you.
The camp will be supervised by staff from 1610 at Hestercombe House and Preston School staff and we have devised a wide variety of activities both adventurous and educational. These include a climbing wall, raft building, paintballing, sports, a treasure hunt, a BBQ, a camp fire and other fun activities. A packed lunch will need to be provided for the first day.
We are able to offer this trip at a cost of £70.00 per student (to include all activities, hire of tents, all food, travel to and from the campsite by coach and insurance) and we would ask for voluntary contributions for that amount. If your child receives Free School Meals please contact us over the cost, if we do not receive enough voluntary contributions the trip may not run.
Our aim is that all students in Year 7 participate in the camp, therefore if you have any questions please contact the school. A full kit list and further details about the trip will be given out in September, but it will be helpful if students have a sleeping bag and roll mat. Students can hire sleeping bags (£2.00) and roll mats (£1.00) if they do not have these items.
